Our Story
Steinhatchee River Rentals has been family-owned and operated since the early 2000s. We started with three kayaks and a dream to share the magic of this river with everyone—from first-time paddlers to seasoned anglers.
Today we're one of the most trusted names on the water in Dixie County, with a fleet of over 40 vessels and a team that knows every bend, spring, and sandbar. We don't just rent equipment—we help you plan the perfect day on the river, from launch to landing.
Every rental includes a PFD, safety briefing, and river condition check before you launch.
Early launches for sunrise anglers, late returns for sunset drifts—we work around your schedule.
We live here, paddle here, and care about keeping this river clean and welcoming for everyone.
What Awaits You
The Steinhatchee River is one of Florida's best-kept secrets. Here's what makes it special.
The Steinhatchee is fed by crystal-clear springs that maintain a constant 72°F year-round. Paddle through glassy stretches where you can see straight to the sandy bottom.
Target speckled trout, redfish, flounder, and sheepshead in the river's shallow flats and deep holes. We stock tackle and can point you to the hotspots.
Bald eagles, river otters, manatees (in winter), and alligators are common sights. Bring binoculars and keep your eyes on the canopy and the waterline.
There's nothing like drifting down the river as the sun dips below the cypress trees. We offer evening rentals so you can catch the golden hour on the water.
We'll show you the best sandbars and shaded banks for a riverside picnic. Just bring the food—we'll bring the cooler and the map.
Not sure which route to take? Our local guides know every cove and current. Book a half-day or full-day guided tour and let us handle the planning.

Bring sunscreen, a hat, water shoes or sandals with straps, and plenty of water. We provide life jackets, paddles, and coolers. If you're fishing, bring your license—we sell day passes at the shop.
Plan to arrive 20–30 minutes early. That gives us time to fit you with gear, go over safety, and answer any questions. We won't cut your rental short if you're running late, but early arrival means more time on the water.
